It is **not** that you can't build it — you just don't code it by hand. The blueprint is Karpathy's April 2026 "LLM Wiki" gist: rather than stateless RAG, the LLM incrementally builds and maintains a persistent markdown wiki that compounds with every source added.
This Second Brain you're reading — is that pattern in production. Three parts: (1) atomic markdown **"thought" files**, one claim each; (2) **typed graph edges** wiring those thoughts together; (3) an **agent (Claude Code)** that reads each new source, distills it, files it, and self-wires the graph. What a human writes is not retrieval code — it's the schema (a rules file like CLAUDE.md) and what goes in.
The only thing you decide is what goes in. The agent builds and maintains the rest.
