In my first year of middle school in Korea, I answered a math question confidently, got teased for it, and never spoke up in class again. The class material got harder; my confidence in my own thinking got smaller. I learned firsthand how Korean education's social cost on questions bends a person's growth curve down. Companies have the same problem. Admitting you don't know is hard. Asking is harder. Without those moves, growth doesn't compound. The change conversational AI brought wasn't a new source of answers — it was a near-zero psychological cost on questions. ChatGPT doesn't judge. You can ask the same dumb question a hundred times. Whatever was suppressing the inner asker can be re-trained in front of a model that doesn't care.
